scenes from london

pretty colored houses in Chelsea England, pretty colored houses in London neighborhoodIt’s so hard to believe that just two weeks ago we were headed to London!  London is always a favorite place to visit, especially because we get to visit our family that lives there.  Since we have frequented the city often, this post is sharing scenes from London, not our recommendations for the city.  If you have any questions about what to do, feel free to email us at hello@bishopandholland.com or you can visit our past blog posts about London here, here and here.  With that being said, we highly recommend each place that we visited from this trip, but if it’s your first trip to London there are so many other sights to see!  Also, we get lots of questions about how we pack for trips to Europe, so we have linked some of the things we packed below each picture.  Hope this helps!

laguna beach

June 29, 2015

laguna beach

A few weeks ago, we spent a long weekend in beautiful Southern California.  Our family friends were tying the knot in Newport Beach, so we decided to enjoy a a few days in Laguna Beach beforehand, and made the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Nigel our home away from home!  It’s also close to the town of Laguna Beach, which we love to visit.  It’s like a sleepy little beach town that is incredibly busy (if that makes any sense!).  There are so many charming shops to explore & great restaurants to try.  Here are our Laguna Beach suggestions if you are planning a trip in the future:

Stay:

  • Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel–  Located on the bluff above Salt Creek beach, this property has stunning views of the Pacific.  Each morning we started with Pilates or yoga overlooking the Ocean, followed by breakfast.  We highly recommend the oatmeal w/ fresh berries, and the iced coffee is delicious!  The rooms are beautiful and each room has a patio overlooking the pool or the ocean.  The beach is a quick walk down the bluffs and resort staff will greet you with chairs, towels and umbrellas!  If the beach is not your thing, the resort pool is beautiful with a full service bar and restaurant.  It’s a great setting for lunch!

Eat:

  • 180BLU-  The terrace restaurant at the Ritz, this was our favorite place to eat at the hotel.  You can’t beat the views, and the food is amazing too.  We highly suggest the nachos, sweet potato fries, lobster tacos, oysters and hand rolled sushi that is available on the weekends.
  • Sapphire–  Located in the heart of Laguna Beach, this restaurant is in what was once a charming beach cottage.  We were thoroughly impressed with each of our appetizers and main dishes.  There were a few that really stood out: the seared hamachi was a favorite of the appetizers we tried, and the whole grilled branzino was a showstopper entree.  For dessert, we shared bananas foster, which was to die for!
  • Watermarc–  Every trip to Laguna we find ourselves eating at Watermarc.  And no exceptions for this trip!  We had lunch at Watermarc two days during our trip and it did not disappoint.  We think everything is delicious, but especially the filet mignon sliders, beet carpaccio and ahi watermelon skewers – yum!

Shop:

  • Fashion Island– World class shopping just a short drive from the Ritz
  • Laguna Beach–  Wander in and out of the little boutiques that line PCH in Laguna

Golf:

  • Monarch Beach Golf Links–  Free shuttle service from the Ritz to Monarch Beach.  Beautiful course right on the ocean! Our husbands loved the course and the close proximity to the Ritz
  • Pelican Hill– A beautiful course in Newport Beach, our husbands played the South course.  We made a day of it with shopping at Fashion Island and then meeting them at the hotel bar for a drink when they finished their round

Do:

  • Beach
  • Drive PCH from Laguna to Newport and stop in each beach town
  • Relax!

PS: We’ve been sharing a few looks from our trip over the past few weeks.  You can see an adorable palm leaf print dress, our favorite tassel dress in coral, the perfect boho short set and a chambray dress.

Vogue magazineen route to new york: louis vuitton neverfull|gorjana teagan cuff- c/o|gorjana isla & midi ring-c/o|sweater

Our second Fashion Week experience was a little different than our first.  It was absolutely freezing in NYC!  In fact, it was the coldest weather New York had experienced in 20 years. Basically we ran from the front door of wherever we were, outside to the waiting Uber car,  and to the front door of our next location, so that we didn’t literally freeze.  All that to say we didn’t get outside much!

So unfortunately, we didn’t take a lot of pictures with our camera – sooo thankful for the iPhone camera!  We have never done an Instagram round-up before, but thought it may be fun for those of you who aren’t on Instagram to see some of our shots from our trip.  Plus if you don’t use Liketoknow.it, now you have the product links to shop our looks from Fashion Week.  We hope you enjoy a glimpse into our Fashion Week experience!

Head over to Manuscript Cellars to see our full recap and some exclusive shots!

Hunter Bell NYFW 15hunter bell presentation: a fellow southern girl, hunter has such an inspiring line.

Trina Turk caftanthis trina turk tunic was the perfect layering piece for day one.  as soon as we landed, we changed quickly and made our way to Hunter Bell, Ann Taylor, Elaine Turner & then met the Kendra Scott team for drinks at Fig. 19 (a must do if you are in NY): trina turk tunic- c/o|j.crew camel coat|same edelman kayla boots|red saint laurent sac du jour

Zara floral pantsday two consisted of more meetings. first was the outnet (love their iris & ink label), brunch at claudette (the cutest french bistro!) and then we stopped by the Shoshanna showroom to preview Fall 15 and the new midnight collection: zara pants (similar)|vince burgundy turtleneck|valentino rockstud pumps|kendra scott arden bracelet-c/o|ann taylor bracelets- c/o

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue NYFW 15from shoshanna we made our way to the Meatpacking district to visit with our favorite Yosi Samra girls, and ran into our Gigi New York friends there too!  The Yosi Fall 15 Collection is amazing.  Next we made our way to Soho to get our makeup touched up by BareMinerals.  Have you tried the new complexion rescue?   We’ve been using it for two weeks, and can’t believe how it’s changed our skin.  It is seriously a life changer: vince burgundy turtleneck|zara pants (similar)|joie fur vest (similar)|nicole miller dress|zara booties (similar)

Ribalata pizza NYFW 15from bare minerals, we stopped into the french connection store for a little shopping, and then met kristi, from french connection, at the best pizza place, ribalta pizza.  we had way too much to eat, and yes, that is fries on top of a pizza!  here are some of the things we picked up at french connection: blue pants|white sweater|brown sandals|polka spray dress|leopard jeans|black mules

Park Hyatt brunchon day 3 aka valentine’s day, we started our day with brunch at the park hyatt (highly recommend the lobster hash).  it was a perfect galentine’s start w/ Ashley, Haley, Katey & Ashley!
