While shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale last week, we stumbled upon this matching separates outfit from Topshop. Knowing that we were heading to Southern California, we immediately picked it up to wear on the trip! On Thursday, we headed to Laguna Beach to meet with Gorjana, creators of a beautiful jewelry line, to preview their amazing fall collection – we loved it! Afterward, we made our way to the Montage Laguna Beach for drinks & lunch. The Montage is a stunning property with the Pacific Ocean as its spectacular backdrop. With the incredible weather and the blue-green of the ocean, we think this geometric print outfit complemented the surroundings perfectly!

A few years ago, we wouldn’t have been caught dead in matching separates. But, as we’re learning over and over again, never say never! The idea of matching separates and making two pieces look like one is perfect for any closet. Wear them together or wear them separately, it’s a great way to add versatility to any wardrobe. When we’re wearing matching separates, we tend to go with a neutral shoe, like this or this & light on the jewelry, like this delicate necklace. And then, it’s fun to add a pop of color in a small way with a clutch. One of the trends we’re seeing for spring & one of Ken Downing’s and Neiman Marcus’ Top 10 Trends is Artistic Prints. These can range from geometric & graphic prints, to colorful florals & tribal prints. One of our favorites is this version of the classic DVF wrap dress. We love the watercolor look of the abstract leopard print & the two different color ways of the fabric that gives the illusion of matched separates.
