holiday party dress + draper james event

Tis the season y’all! Holiday parties are in full swing and that means it’s time to find the perfect holiday party dress. Having a Holiday party on the calendar is so much fun! We love the whole process; finding something special to wear, taking time on our hair and make up and then heading out to spend some time with good friends. Toasting with a glass of bubbly is the icing on the cake! This dress from Draper James fits our party attire criteria to a tee. It’s definitely festive, but not too much so. It can be worn to a dressy party with the perfect pumps or wear it with black tights and booties to a more casual gathering. And it is so comfortable and easy to wear!

Speaking of holiday parties, we are so excited to be hosting a holiday party with Draper James in Highland Park Village this Thursday, December 15th! We hope you’ll join us for a glass of bubbly (or two!) and some sweet bites in the charming Draper James store. christmas pajamas

We just love Christmas time and everything that goes with it! But sometimes it’s hard to step away from the busy day to day and remember to just take in the season, and remember (as trite as it may sound) the reason for the season. William does a good job of helping us to stop and smell the Christmas tree He squeals with excitement every time he sees it and we have to stop and touch the branches and admire the ornaments. And also try to keep him from grabbing the breakable ones- we’ve already lost a couple! In turn, we talk with him about Christmas and baby Jesus’ birth and His return still to come. We’re hoping as William gets older those are the things he is excited to celebrate at Christmas. We’re also pretty sure he’ll be excited about the presents!

Our family is all about tradition and we shared a little bit about our Christmas stocking tradition last week. Another tradition we love is wearing matching Christmas pajamas. This tradition has been going on since Stia was a toddler and we loved initiating Katherine into it when she and Justin were married. After we get home from Christmas Eve service, we eat dinner, put on our Christmas pajamas and then we each open one gift. On Christmas morning, you can find us all in our matching Christmas pajamas, sitting around the fire opening presents and eating a leisurely breakfast. Most years, we try to stay in them all day!
