buffalo plaid

November 18, 2014

DSC_0526Dallas saw its first round of light snow this weekend, and maybe the first snow in November ever!  It looks like after a mild summer, we are going to have one cold winter.  Not being a huge fan of freezing temperatures, it’s hard to want to get dressed in more than just our workout pants & sweatshirts.  But, let’s face it… it’s not always appropriate to be a workout imposter!  On freezing cold days like we’ve had this past week, and when staying in the house is not an option, we keep reaching for one thing.. a buffalo plaid flannel shirt.  They are so cozy and the perfect layering piece.  On a normal Dallas fall day, this leather jacket would be enough – but with the weather we’ve been having a heavier coat is definitely a necessity!

Styling tip: To stay away from the lumberjack look, keep accessories feminine and wear a heeled bootie.

how to get a beautiful blow dry

November 17, 2014

_MG_1577_1FINALThe best part about getting a haircut?  The blow out. But, if you are like us, it’s always difficult to replicate the perfect blow dry at home. Thankfully, our long time hair stylist, Whitney Haynes, has started offering client courses with FORM Hair Education to teach lay people like us how to do a professional blow dry at home, anytime.

FORM Hair Education is Whitney’s brain child. Trained in Paris and London, Whitney definitely knows what she’s doing!  We recently spent some time with Whitney at l.a.r.c. salon, learning how to accomplish a beautiful blow-dry.  Detailed instructions and one-on-one attention made it easy to achieve the results we wanted.  Clients leave the course with their hair styled, a diagram of instructions to repeat at home, and sectioning clips (super important!).

In addition to Beautiful Blow Dry, Whitney also offers the following classes:  Perfect Ponytail, Glamorous Curls & Tousled Up-do.  It’s hard to decide which class we want to try next – it would be fun to get some of our girlfriends together and a bottle of bubbly, and make a party of it!  Someone tell our hubbies to add this to our Christmas list!

Traveling is at the top of our “favorite things to do” list.  We usually jump at the opportunity to get away, whether it’s to explore another city or culture, or revisit a favorite spot.  We barely get unpacked before we are already planning our next getaway!  This week’s gift guide is a collection of items we can’t travel without.  If you are shopping for a jetsetter in the family, we don’t think you can go wrong with any of them!
