As we are sure you’ve heard, purple is one of the top trends in fashion this season.  We don’t have much of it in our closet, so we “needed” to go shopping to find something purple that we could add to our wardrobe.  We found this great tailored Tibi dress and fell in love!  It’s such a ladylike dress, with its flattering waistline, but stunning in this great color.  We’re looking forward to adding more purple to our closet!

Wow-Colorado is stunning in late summer!  b&h spent some time in Beaver Creek, Colorado for the wedding of a dear friend, and it will take some convincing for us to head to Colorado in the winter now! Can you believe it started snowing in Beaver Creek last week?! The weather was perfect while we were there.  We enjoyed biking from Beaver Creek to Edwards for lunch & shopping and found the cutest little cafe, The Rose! We also had a fabulous spa day, relaxed by the heated pool and did a bit of hiking. The scenery is unbelievable!  All the while the men in our lives enjoyed some mountain golf.  Beaver Creek, we hope we will be seeing you next summer!

Caprese Salad:

basil

handful of organic cherry tomatoes

ciliegine mozzarella balls

baby organic spinach leaves

balsamic vinegar

Summer has come and gone (although it’s still 90 degrees in Dallas!), & we can’t help but make one last Caprese Salad. We always start with the basil we grow in our garden, and then our version varies depending on what locally sourced ingredients we find at our local Whole Foods. Today we found Durst Farms organic cherry tomatoes and used cherry mozzarella balls to keep the size of ingredients consistent. We slice the tomatoes and mozzarella in half, sliver the basil, toss and serve on a bed of baby organic spinach leaves. The finishing touch is a drizzle of balsamic vinegar.

Wine Pairing:

Sauvignon Blanc. Pair this salad with a light summery wine.  Our choice today is the Buoncristiani 2011 Sauvignon Blanc.
