matte sequins

Sequins can be a tricky thing to pull off during the day. Sometimes too dressy, sometimes too sparkly, sometimes just inappropriate. There are definitely challenges when trying to put together a festive day time outfit. But, now that the holidays are in full swing, it’s a great time to style this look! This Vince top is the perfect “casual” sequin top. The sequins are matte, so you don’t blind everyone who walks by, and the hunter green color & T-shirt style dresses the top down. Paired back to denim and you’ve got a great “casual festive” look! This look can easily go from day to night by swapping out the denim and putting on black denim or leather jeans, or a skirt.

Ginger Carrot Cake & Pomegranate Gelato

It’s officially one week until Christmas! Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet? Besides a few last minute things to pick up, we’re close to being done. In addition to the other great items for Katherine’s birthday dinner, Kelly, from Pink Champagne Paper Co, created these adorable cupcake toppers. Go here to see the rest of the invitation suite Kelly did for the birthday dinner. One of our favorite parts of birthdays, (and any day, really!), is dessert. Whether it’s a chocolate chip cookie with coffee in the morning, a handful of m&ms during the day, or ice cream after dinner, we try not to let a day pass without eating something sweet. One of our favorites is carrot cake. Why not? It’s healthy for you, right? At least it has a vegetable in it, and this recipe has fresh ginger, another bonus! This was the first time we made our favorite carrot cake recipe into cupcakes instead of a cake, and we were very happy with the result. They looked so cute and were so easy to serve. To accompany the cupcakes, we opted for a Pomegranate Gelato, which comes out a soft, pretty pink – perfect for our color scheme. The combination was delicious together!
