Birthdays in this family are a big deal. In fact, we usually celebrate birthdays for the whole month – “Birthday Month”! Now that we’re all back in the Dallas area, we’ve started the tradition of a birthday lunch at a restaurant that the guest of honor chooses. It’s usually a new place or someplace they haven’t been. And we really try not to repeat! For Katherine’s birthday this year, we had lunch at a “new-ish” restaurant, Lark on the Park, which overlooks Klyde Warren Park. We were definitely not disappointed in the food, atmosphere, or rosé bubbly! The only thing that could have been better was the weather– our lunch was at the end of the ice storm that hit Dallas last week, so we all bundled up, braved the icy streets & had a great time!
Our second tradition is planning a birthday dinner at home. We love to plan a special menu, cook together, pair wine & drink wine! Besides the food & wine, the table settings are one of the other things we love to do for the birthday dinners. We have so much fun picking out the china, linens and flowers. This year our dear friend Kelly, owner of Pink Champagne Paper Co., provided us with invitations, menu cards, place cards & cupcake toppers (which will be debuted tomorrow). The addition of these items made for the perfect pink & blue table setting. Kelly’s work is so creative & fun and she is wonderful to work with. She listened to our vision and the final result was exactly what we were looking for. One of our favorite parts was the gold glitter lined envelope for the invitations. Kelly’s line has everything you could need in paper… bridal/wedding, holiday, baby, birthday, stationary… use your imagination!
Cheers,
