For Spring Break this year, we spent five nights in Chicago. One of my college roommates lives there and we had another roommate and her family all in Chicago for the week. With seven kids between the ages of 4 and 8, there was never a lack of fun and the adults may have had more fun than the kids! It was the perfect trip to spend some quality time with friends and I love seeing how our kids have the best time together.
We spent two nights with my college roommate before we all moved to the city for a few nights. Here’s what we did with pre-school/elementary age kids in Chicago:
Do
- Walk Michigan Avenue
- SlooMoo Insititute – Highly recommend for a slime experience!
- Funtopia – Such a fun play place
- The Art Institue of Chicago – Very entertaining with the kids
- Bulls Game – The Mavs played the Bulls while we were in town
- Shedd Aquarium – A highlight for my kids
Stay
For our nights in the city, we stayed at The Langham Hotel and it was such a great experience! The boys loved staying in the middle of the city in a “skyscraper” and we loved it just as much. The Langham is in such a great area that we walked everywhere.
- One bedroom suite: Our hotel room felt like an apartment! It was spacious and had floor to ceiling windows with the most amazing views of the river and city. The hotel had a cute tent set-up, so the boys took turns between the pull out couch and tent. There was a dining table, powder bath, walk-in closet and spacious bathroom with huge shower and soaking tub!
- Club level: Our room had club level access and I highly recommend it. The club room had the most incredible views of the river and city and it was a beautiful space! There is a full breakfast spread, light snacks, afternoon tea, happy hour with light appetizers and a candy bar, which our kids loved! Not only are there food/drink amenities, there are games, a drawing easel and lots of spaces to sit and relax and enjoy the view.
- Pool: The hotel has an indoor pool that is part of the spa floor. It was so fun getting to swim inside and the perfect way to end a busy day exploring the city. Although it’s on the spa floor, it’s open to kids to use.
- Cinema Suite: On our last night, we decided to rent out the cinema suite and surprised the kids. It was their favorite thing! The cinema suite has oversized cinema seats, popcorn, snacks, candy and drinks! We had it for three hours and we all enjoyed a relaxing night in!
