When we bought our townhouse five years ago, kids were not on our radar at all. We were newly married and just excited to have a place of our own that we had worked hard for! Ever since I found out we were pregnant with William, we knew that the town home wasn’t going to be ideal for us long term. It’s only two bedrooms and both bedrooms are on the third floor. But still, we loved it. It’s in a great location where we can walk to tons of restaurants and shops and Caleb even walks to work. We had a hard time thinking of giving all that up! Fast forward to Henry and it just got harder and harder to get the boys up/down the stairs – let alone everything else I had to haul along with me. We also wanted more space and a backyard for the boys to be able to step outside to play.
Long story short – Home sweet (new!) home! We had been casually looking, but about a month ago decided we would stop for awhile and be content where we were because nothing was coming on the market. I decided to drive through a neighborhood we liked one day while Henry was sleeping in the car. I spotted a house with a “For Sale” sign that I hadn’t seen before. The outside had great curb appeal and it had just come on the market, so I emailed the house listing to Caleb and we decided to reach out to our realtor to see it. Come to find out the house had multiple offers already, but the realtor was going to let us take a look that evening, even though they had decided to stop accepting offers. As soon as we walked in we felt like it was the perfect house to become our home. We figured out a game plan and submitted an offer, hoping and praying that we would get the house. Our offer ended up being the one chosen by the seller! We are just so thankful for God’s timing and provision throughout the whole situation.
When I say the house was “perfect” I wasn’t describing how it looks on the inside… the house is 25 years old and hasn’t been touched since it was built! We have our work cut out for us! But, it has a great bones and is in a great neighborhood where the boys will be able to walk to school. We’re planning to move in with my parents in July and live with them until our remodel is complete.
I am so excited to make this home our own and tackle our first (rather large) renovation project! Now, let’s hope we are in by the Fall 😉 Would love to hear from any of you who have done a renovation project and any of you who are working on one now! I think we will need all the help we can get!
PS: I’ve been pinning away (Are you following us on Pinterest?!) and finding decor inspiration on some of my favorite websites – Frontgate, Wisteria, Serena & Lily and Lulu and Georgia!
