ten nursing friendly tops

September 28, 2017

blue lace ruffle front top

It’s so hard to believe that Henry will be three weeks old tomorrow! He has been the most easygoing baby, but has been giving us very little sleep the past week. We finally got a 4 hour stretch of sleep on Tuesday night, a welcome change from Henry being awake from midnight to 4 am! That tends to be the time he cluster feeds – that and from 6-8 pm. Witching hour anyone?

Nursing Henry has been a much smoother journey than with William. He didn’t have a tongue tie, so other than the usual pain at the beginning, it has just been so trouble-free! I nurse Henry on demand, just like William, so I try to always wear something nursing friendly. It seems to be easier to find/wear nursing friendly clothes in the summer, so I’ve rounded up ten nursing friendly tops for the fall!

Ten Nursing Friendly Tops to Wear this Fall

  • This eyelet top is adorable, a good price and so effortless to nurse in. In fact, I wore it for one our first outings and, even though it was hot, I was so happy that I did. It was just so easy to be able to button down my shirt at lunch when Henry got hungry.
  • This plaid ruffle top is perfect for fall and perfect for nursing your baby anywhere – I just ordered it!
  • An off the shoulder sweater can easily be pulled down – and looks so chic!
  • You can’t go wrong with a classic white shirt – so many ways to wear it!
  • The prettiest pink off the shoulder top.
  • Classic stripes and this top is perfect for layering.
  • This statement sleeve sweater is adorable and love the deep v and bows on the sleeves.
  • The perfect nursing friendly top to wear this fall – love the cardigan look and bows at the shoulders!
  • This black top has all the romantic vibes.
  • And I love the detailing on this blue and white button down shirt.

mixing prints

November 3, 2016

mixing prints with a striped cropped sweater and plaid high waisted pantsMixing prints is a big trend this fall, but pulling it off can be a little tricky. We’ve mixed florals, and we’ve mixed leopard in with prints, but we haven’t tried experimenting much past that. Then we saw our namesake “Bishop” sweater at Shop Buru and decided to try mixing the striped sweater with these plaid pants. They definitely don’t match, but with colors in common we think it works!

The trick to mixing prints is to keep your shoe choice neutral, and usually handbag as well. This red satchel doesn’t follow that rule, but we like the way it picks up the red in the sweater and the trouser, helping to tie at all together.

buru white label

August 4, 2016

yellow boxy top and distressed boyfriend jeans and white cross body bagAs a new mom, I never realized the difficulties of finding stylish, but also functional clothing. If it’s a top, it needs to be easily pulled up, button-down or low enough to nurse when I’m out and about. And if I’m wearing a dress, it needs to be all those things (except for pulled up- that would not be appropriate, haha!). Not to mention, most things need to be machine-washable. Now that Will is eating solids and teething, there is drool and food everywhere! The glamorous life of a mom is a job that I can’t believe I am lucky enough to have!

When our dear friend Morgan reached out to us about her latest venture with BURU, we were so excited! The BURU White Label is all about stylish pieces that can be worn before, during and after pregnancy. Everything is machine-washable (yes, please!) and affordable. The line ranges from $65-$175, but we promise you will look like a million bucks! The BURU White Label officially launched on Monday and you can see more about the line here. I love this window pane top. It’s a shirt that I can wear now with summer accessories and later with black jeans or the matching skirt. Plus, it’s a piece of clothing that can easily go from a play date to a dinner date with my husband by changing a few key accessories. To celebrate the launch of BURU White label, we are so excited to offer our readers 15% off with the code B&H15! This is the perfect time to try the line. A few of our favorites from the first release: a classic black tunic dress, this military jacket and this blouse for layering!
