Birthday Staycation at Omni PGA Frisco Resort

January 30, 2024

William turned 8 (!!!) earlier this month! I love that he likes to celebrate his birthdays with experiences. We started it last year when he got to pick out any Lego set he wanted (he chose the Titanic) and we spent the night at a hotel working away on it!

This year, he decided on a staycation at the recently opened Omni PGA Frisco Resort. He loves golf and this resort has everything for the golf lover. With a January birthday, the weather can be a little tricky, but the resort has a great variety of outdoor and indoor activities.

It was a quick 25 minute drive to the resort and as soon as we arrived we got started on our fun staycation. An arctic freeze blew through while we were there with snow and icy temperatures, but it made the stay that much more memorable! With that being said, this is a comprehensive list of what we did in the winter. Now we will have to go back and see all that the resort has to offer in the warmer months!

Stay:

The Omni PGA Frisco Resort just opened in May of 2023. It’s a beautiful resort and everything you need is right there! We had a one bedroom suite and it was beautiful! It had a spacious living area with a pull-out sofa, the most amazing views of the golf course, a huge bathroom with a stand-alone tub and a large balcony with rocking chairs. We were there during the arctic temps/freeze, when everything in Dallas seemed to shut-down, and the service at the resort remained top notch. The staff made sure we had everything we needed and more!

Eat:

  • Lounge by Topgolf: While the boys were playing on the simulators, we ordered an assortment of appetizers for lunch and were very impressed with the food! It was delicious and had something for everyone in our family.
  • Ice house: We had dinner here – it’s very casual, BBQ style dining. William loved it and it has a great outdoor space right in the middle of the golf area!
  • Toast and Tee: This is the coffee shop in the hotel and we grabbed breakfast here the next morning.
  • The Apron: This is more casual dining. We stopped in for some homemade ice cream.
  • Margaret’s Cones and Cups: William had ice cream here after we played The Swing and he said “it was the best ice cream ever”.
  • Other restaurants: Trick Rider is the steakhouse at the resort, but it’s closed on Sundays (the night we stayed). We are planning to go back and try it!

Do:

  • The Swing: This was a highlight for all three of us! It’s the ten hole, par 3 course and it was such a blast. I’m not a “golfer” but I played all ten holes and we had a lot of friendly competitions. Halfway through the course there is an old truck that has been refurbished as “The Swing Bar”. They have margaritas and beer on tap, plus snacks.
  • Simulators: For some indoor fun we rented a couple of simulators at the Lounge by Topgolf. I loved having this option given the weather and it was fun for all ages! We had golf on one simulator, but then you could also choose from Zombie dodgeball (a hit with my boys), soccer, baseball, etc and we switched up the games on the other simulator. I can imagine it’s a busy place in the heat of the summer, too!
  • Topgolf bays: This is located in the Ice House. They are indoor bays, but you use the Topgolf software to play games and hit into the driving range. It started snowing while we were there, which was magical! We moved inside when it got too cold and had a delicious dinner.
  • Warmer weather activities: If you take a look at the Omni PGA Frisco Resort website, you can see all the activities available! With the pool, spa, golf, outdoor movies, a St. Bernard (one of my favorite Dallas stores) pop-up and even more shopping – you will need to book another night!

Cheers,

Stia, Jean and Katherine

Four Seasons Dallas really knows how to make a stay special and we are ready to enjoy. We are planning to spend a lot of time at the pool… hopefully with some r&r, in between playing with the baby boys 😉 Saturday night- dinner at Four Seasons Dallas is always a treat and we can’t wait to enjoy their Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday! Of course, even though it’s a staycation, we just had to pick up some new goodies to bring along! Here’s what we’re packing for our FS Dallas staycation:

What We’re Packing for a Dallas Staycation

  • Navy and Tortoise Sunnies: Katherine just picked up these new sunglasses and can’t wait to wear them this weekend!
  • Jean Shorts: We are always on the lookout for jean shorts! These are just the right length and love the high-waisted and button front.
  • White Sun Hat: This hat is so cute and has just the right amount of sun protection for days by the pool.
  • Setting Powder: We just started using this powder sunscreen and it is the most perfect way to keep applying sunscreen when you’re out in the sun for hours!
  • Eyelet bikini: This pink bikini is the perfect color.
  • Tinted Lip Gloss: We have been using the Fresh lip treatment for years and love all the colors in the tinted version. Plus, SPF!
  • Gingham Pajamas: We love to get matching pajamas when we travel together and these are just too cute 🙂
  • Floral Dress: Stia is planning on wearing this floral dress for dinner on Saturday night.
  • Personalized phone case: We are crazy over these personalized shadow text phone covers and Jean just picked up a new one!
  • Blue tie-back tank: This tank is so comfy and so cute with the back detail.
  • Floral headband: We’ve been wanting to try this fabric headband look and this weekend is the perfect time.
  • Straw tote bag: This is our go-to beach/pool bag.
  • Lilac earrings: Can’t get enough of this color!!

staycation: four seasons resort & club las colinas

May 2, 2014

DSC_0297Travel and weekends away have always been a big part of our lives.  Whether it’s a trip to Austin, California or London, we’re always up for an adventure!  But sometimes the hassle of airports, flight delays and travel schedules can be enough to ruin the relaxation.  One of the best things about Dallas is that you can get anywhere fast.  Especially when it’s a staycation!  For a recent weekend getaway we decided to skip the airport and just drive to Las Colinas for a staycation at the Four Seasons Resort & Club.

The property is beautiful!  We were treated like kings & queens from the minute we arrived, until we said goodbye! From the stunning room, with the balcony overlooking the pool and the 18th hole, to the oversized bathrooms & oh-so-comfy beds, the accommodations were incredible.

Our first night we dined at Bar 19 and enjoyed cocktails & a chicken-fried quail appetizer (which was one of the best things we’ve had!), and dinner on the patio.  It was the perfect way to kick off our staycation weekend!

The next morning, we had breakfast at Cafe on the Green and indulged in omelets, fresh squeezed strawberry-banana juice & an array of pastries  – the buffet looked incredible, too!

Next up – a tee time at TPC Las Colinas!  It was a great morning for golf and the course was pristine. We can’t wait to go back and watch the pros play the Byron Nelson!

Following golf, lunch was served at the pool.  The menu included a wonderful kale salad, quesadillas & delicious cocktails, perfect for a warm day by the pool!

Our next stop was the spa, which was a wonderful way to spend the rest of the afternoon!  As soon as we entered the spa, we felt relaxed.  The waiting areas were so peaceful with juice, cucumber water,  a hot tub, cold tub and saunas.  After an 80-minute massage, we headed up to get ready for dinner.

Dinner was served at Cafe on the Green and it was incredible.  We had the Iconoclast wine,  which is exclusive to the Four Seasons Resorts. It was a delicious pairing with our meal! From appetizers of butternut squash taquitos, to salmon tartare, and then Scottish Salmon & Texas Short Rib for dinner, the food was incredible!  And being the big ice cream fans we are, we opted for the Four Seasons homeade ice cream sampler– the espresso flavored ice cream was to die for!

Our last morning finished with room service & roaming the beautiful grounds before heading back home!

While we tried to fit as much as possible into our staycation weekend, there is so much more to do! Next time we do a Four Seasons Resort staycation, we’ll be sure to use the indoor pool, tennis courts & gym!  This was the perfect weekend getaway for the guys & girls – we can’t wait to come back!
