design & dine

March 30, 2015

designanddine Last week we were the guests of Manuscript Cellars at the 2nd Annual Design & Dine event held at Classic BMW in Plano.  This event is a fundraising effort for the Junior League of Plano and they did it up big.  We enjoyed food tastings from many local restaurants, and there were booths serving margaritas, gin cocktails and wine.  Manuscript Cellars was there serving all of our favorites, and also a couple of new ones that we hadn’t tried yet!  The fashion show was very dramatic, filled with fabulous new designs from local designers, and Courtney Kerr as emcee.  The event was the perfect combination of fashion, food & fun!

elderflower champagne punch

March 16, 2015

elderflower champagne punch

This weekend we officially kicked off wedding season by attending our first wedding shower of the year! It was a beautiful party, and so great to catch up with our friends.  It’s fun getting dressed up in a new dress, enjoy the warmer temps, and of course, indulging in a glass of bubbly while celebrating the bride-to-be!

Punch is one of our favorite things to serve when we host a wedding shower or spring party.  It can be garnished so many different ways, and it’s so easy to make ahead and have ready for your guests to help themselves, leaving more time to visit.  We like to freeze a large ice block with pieces of fruit in it to keep the punch cold without diluting it.  Of course our favorite punch recipes all have something in common – champagne!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup lemon juice (from 8 lemons)
  • 1/2 cup superfine sugar
  • 2 bottles (750 ml each) chilled Champagne or other sparkling wine
  • 1 cup chilled cranberry juice cocktail
  • 1 cup elderflower liqueur, such as St-Germain
  • Lemon slices

Directions

  1. In a punch bowl, stir together lemon juice and sugar until sugar is dissolved. Add wine, cranberry juice cocktail, and elderflower liqueur; stir gently to combine. To serve, top with lemon slices.

Cheers,

homemade sweet cream & oreo ice cream

March 2, 2015

If you follow us on Instagram, it probably doesn’t surprise you that ice cream is one of our favorite desserts.  That usually means grabbing a pint or two of Talenti while we’re doing our shopping at Whole Foods – have you tried Caramel Cookie Crunch?  It’s amazing!  So even thought we are in the middle of a freezing cold spell, ice cream was our choice for our dinner party this weekend.  But, we opted for homemade ice cream this time!  Our favorite recipe for homemade ice cream is Ben & Jerry’s Sweet Cream.  It’s so good on it’s own, but the great thing about this recipe is all the different things you can add, to make new flavors.  We opted for Oreos this weekend, but fresh strawberries, m&ms, or sprinkles are all great choices!  Do you have any other suggestions for the next time we mix up a batch?

Cheers,
