a day at the pumpkin patch

October 17, 2017

a day at the pumpkin patchFall in Texas is pretty amazing. Yes, it’s been hot, but we have a window of time where the weather is perfect and there is a slight cool breeze in the air. We took the boys to the Dallas Arboretum to run around the pumpkin patch last week. Last year, William was only 9-months old! This year, he was running around like crazy, touching all the pumpkins, running on the hay bales and hugging every kid in sight. Henry, on the other hand, slept the entire time!

It’s so fun (and kinda crazy) getting out of the house with two boys. Especially one toddler who seems to have endless energy! Thankfully, the stroller we got when we had William converts into a double stroller and the tandem configuration is so nice! The stroller is the same width as it was with just one baby, but now we are transporting two. William loves being out in front leading the way, and having Henry riding right in front of me allows me to keep a close eye on him. It makes getting out and about with two babies about as easy as that can be!

white lace dress

baby bump style, what to wear to your baby shower

Continuing with the baby shower theme (you can find details about Baby Coffman’s shower here), I thought today it would be fun to would share details about what I wore to the shower! I had seen this white lace dress back in September and absolutely fell in love with it. I knew I wanted to wear something like it to my baby shower, but totally disregarded the dress because it was non-maternity.

Fast forward to November. With only two weeks until the shower, I started frantically searching for a dress to wear. I can’t tell you how many dresses I ordered: maxi and short, lace and sweater, loose and tight. And none of them worked. In my mind I had envisioned wearing white lace and wanted something with sleeves–it is November after all! After trying no less than twenty dresses, my mom suggested we go to Neimans and try on the white lace dress I fell in love with months ago, and either get the dress, or get over it. Much to our surprise, the dress fit like a glove and needed no alterations! It was perfect. I plan to wear it with a black slip and black heels to an upcoming Christmas party, and again after Baby Coffman arrives! This clothing line is new to us, and it feels like every piece is a work of art. A few favorites from the newest collection include: this blush pink lace dress, a little black dress that makes a statement and this stunning white lace blouse.

PS: The sales are starting to happen– Get these over the knee suede boots for 20% off!

summer beauty must-haves

summerbeauty

In our opinion, summer beauty should be as low maintenance as possible.  And, as much as we love to go sans make up, sometimes you just can’t!  These are the low maintenance summer beauty essentials that can be found in our make-up bags all summer long.  Shop them below:

1) Diorshow Mascara:  Dior makes the best mascara, in our opinion.  It doesn’t take a lot to get the effect of full, dark lashes

2) BareMinerals Complexion Rescue:  This is one of the newest additions to our make-up bags.  Complexion Rescue is an amazing, lightweight BB/CC and tinted moisturizer, and gives you all the sun protection you need.  Plus, while it’s on, it is continually improving your skin.

3) BareMinerals California Bronze Trio:  We love this bronzer trio because there are three different shades to choose from, in one compact case.  The middle bronzer is a highlight shimmer which looks great on sun-kissed cheeks.

4) Bobbi Brown Illuminating Nudes Lipgloss:  Bobbi Brown has always been one of our go-to beauty brands.  In fact, it was the first make-up brand we tried when we started to wear make-up years ago!  Bobbi Brown lipgloss stays on, provides the perfect gloss, and comes in many different colors.  We love this peachy nude for summer.

5) Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow in Bone:  Again, we love Bobbi Brown eyeshadows, and this barely there neutral shadow is perfect for the warm summer months.

6) Oribe Texturizing Spray:  This is a great spray for adding volume and texture – it is also a great substitute for dry shampoo!  It smells so good.

7) Essie Polish “Tying the Knot”:  Essie makes the best colors for summer.  While we love all the hot pinks and reds, this neutral is perfect for an understated manicure.

8) Bobbi Brown Brightening Brick:  This brightening brick is perfect to give yourself one last touch of color and subtle shimmer.  We love the soft pinks.

9) Sunscreen:  This is the most important step in our summer beauty routine.  Even though Complexion Rescue has sun protection in it, we never, ever leave the house without sunscreen all over our face, ears, neck, chest and arms/hands.

10) Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat:  This is one of the not-so-secret weapons in our beauty bag.  It serves as a light concealer, and a highlighter to help brighten up our total look!
