when to transition your toddler to a bed

October 16, 2017

transitioning baby boy to big boy bed

I had good intentions of getting William transitioned into his big boy bed before Henry arrived, but I didn’t really know when the right time to do it was! He sleeps so good in his crib and I really like the idea of keeping him in one spot. I don’t have to worry about him wandering around his room/the upstairs while we are sleeping. Plus, I knew that with a newborn comes lack of sleep and I thought this transition may bring lack of sleep before Henry arrived! So, here we are. William is still in the crib and Henry is still in a bassinet in our room. Which brings me to my question; when is the right time to transition your toddler to a bed?

William isn’t climbing out of his crib, he takes long naps and sleeps twelve hours a night, so when do I rock the boat? We have the bed set up in his room, he loves to read and snuggle in it, but when I ask him if he wants to sleep in his bed, he says no. Our timing is getting shorter and shorter because we are planning to move Henry out of our room and into their shared room after we are done traveling and before the Holidays.

So when did you mommas decide to do it?! Would love to hear your thoughts and any suggestions – as we are getting closer to transition William to his big boy bed!

In the meantime, we thought we would share his little space in their room. We are so happy with the way it turned out and we think William is too!

PS: We have a DockATot Grand and bed rails to try out once we actually transition him!

baby nursery details

The nursery is one of my favorite rooms in our home. It was quite the challenge creating a gender neutral space during my first pregnancy and then this time around I had a hard time envisioning it as a shared room! I am so happy with the way it came out, though! It is the perfect shared room for William and Henry and I think I love the space even more now.

A lot of you have been asking about nursery details, so I figured I could show you the “new” room with William’s toddler bed and link all the details for you – let me know if I missed anything and I will be happy to let you know where something is from!

outdoor patio refresh

July 24, 2017

three ladies stting on aptio with golden pineapple drink tumblersIs there anything better than spending time outside? Our patio is one of the most lived in areas in my home and we utilize the space year-round. Even in the heat of the Texas summer you can find us outside by the pool. Our patio area is not large by any means, but we do have a few separate living spaces. The outdoor grill/kitchen area, the dining area and our favorite space – the outdoor living area. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail or a glass of wine and some great conversation. And, with the outdoor fireplace, it’s just as livable during the winter. When Frontgate reached out to us regarding a partnership, we knew the living area would be the place to start our outdoor living refresh.

When starting to plan for the redo, I began by making a wish list with my favorite items and then narrowed it down by what would actually fit in my space. The Grayson collection love seat is a great size for my space and with the lounge chairs from the collection it makes the perfect seating area for my outdoor living room. I added the matching ottoman for a coffee table/seating piece and a side table from the Avon collection. I knew I wanted to go light and bright, so even though there were so many options, choosing my upholstery fabric was easy. Choosing pillows was a lot harder! But blue was the color that attracted me, so that narrowed it down. I added an outdoor rug and some new fun and so comfy floats for the pool and we are loving our new outdoor space! We plan to be spending a lot of time here!

For any of you you who are in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, Frontgate just opened their flagship store at the new Legacy West in Plano. It is stunning…go check it out as soon as you can!
