Hope you all didn’t have any trouble making it to the middle of the week! We’ve been working on a fun project that we’ll share with you later this week and we have loved having our intern with us (aka Nikki, Jean’s niece/Stia and Katherine’s cousin!). She has been a big help! As you can probably imagine we’ve managed to have a little fun too 🙂  More cousins are on the way to us this weekend and we cannot wait to all be together! Also on the agenda; we are super excited to be hosting the Jessica Simpson + Babies “R” Us Fashion Show revealing her new collection of clothes for baby and toddler girls. Believe us when we say they are adorable! Yikes! It’s a good thing we have little William or we would be in serious trouble!

Top Ten Items to buy during Anniversary Sale 2016:

  1. Handbag: This Chloé look alike is our top handbag pick for this Anniversary sale. The color is the perfect neutral and we love the size- it’s a shoulder bag that will fit more than just a phone and wallet!
  2. Jeans: After doing a closet overhaul and getting rid of many pairs of jeans (some were from ten years ago!), jeans are on our list this year. We love this slightly distressed pair from AG.
  3. Sunglasses: Illesteva sunglasses have been on our list for quite some time. Finally going to pull the trigger today… just can’t decide between the tortoise and the pink!
  4. Make-up: This is the best time to purchase gift sets and beauty products. This Laura Mercier eye and cheek set has great colors and is perfect for traveling- pretty much everything you need in one compact.
  5. Boots: This bootie is perfect for fall/winter. The color goes with everything and it’s the perfect heel height!
  6. Watch: Can you believe that MICHELE watches are on sale? And this one is $800 off! It’s the perfect time to invest in a beautiful watch that you will wear for years.
  7. Workout wear: Last year we went a little crazy buying Zella yoga pants. They are so comfortable and perfect for working out, but also days when we just want to be comfy running errands. Plus, they come in the greatest prints as well as the classic colors. Add a pair of fun running shoes and we are good to go!
  8. Jacket or coat: This can be a big investment, but we’ve found that we’re always happy we bought now when it turns cold later. We love the colorblocking in neutrals of this coat, but also love this classic black wrap coat.
  9. Trend items: This is a great time to invest in some trend items, too. This moto jacket is a great trend piece that won’t break the bank! We’ll be wearing it with jeans, but also over dresses and skirts- all fall and winter long.
  10. A designer splurge : We’ve found that now is the time to treat ourselves to a designer item before the season hits. Our favorite designer splurge this year? These over-the-knee boots! They are super comfortable and can be worn all season long!

Now that we are almost done shopping for ourselves, it’s time to start thinking about our husbands, baby William (just bought his winter coat!) and that early Christmas shopping list!

Early access to Nordstrom’s biggest (and best!) sale kicks off tomorrow and we seriously can not wait. We are so excited to be giving away two $100 gift cards to our readers (more details below). It’s not very often you can buy pre-season items at a discount, but once a year Nordstrom puts a selection of brand new fall and winter merchandise on sale! We’ve been shopping the Nordstrom sale for years- it’s a family tradition. Growing up, we always made a special trip to San Diego to shop the Anniversary sale! This was before the first Nordstrom opened in Dallas at the Galleria in 1996. Now, we are lucky enough to have three locations in the DFW area! But, with a baby and a busy schedule, we plan to do most, if not all, our shopping online this year. If you would like to shop Early Access all you need is a Nordstrom debit or credit account. Over all the years of shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, we have learned a thing or two about it! Here are a few tips that we have:

  • Plan Ahead: Look for gaps in your Fall/Winter wardrobe now so you can see what you are missing for the next season.
  • Make a list: List out the items that you need to add and prioritize! It’s easy to get distracted by a pair of leopard pumps when you really need a classic black ballet flat.
  • Stock up on basics: Beauty products and tools, bras, panties, pajamas, jeans, coats and boots
  • Splurge: This is a great time to invest in a designer item for next season at a discounted price
  • Think ahead: We always do at least some early Christmas shopping during the sale. Make a list of the people you usually buy for and don’t forget about stocking stuffers!
  • Shop early: With the huge discounts that are given, items go fast! Buy early, and you can always return if you end up not needing the item.
