It Goes so Fast

Wow – I can’t believe we are now on “baby watch.” We found out that we were expecting Baby #3 around Halloween and now we’re so close to meeting our baby! The third pregnancy goes so fast. It must be because having two older kids occupies your time/thoughts. Sometimes I had to think really hard how many weeks I was, etc., because there is so much to focus on rather than the pregnancy itself.

Harder on Your Body

I’m not sure if it’s because my body has already done it twice or that I’m older than the first two times, but the third pregnancy has been much harder on my body. When I was pregnant with Henry, my OB told me that you start to feel everything sooner with each pregnancy and she was right!

You Don’t Worry about Loving the Next Child as Much

When I only had one baby that I was crazy about, I wondered how I could possibly love the next as much. I worried about it constantly while I was pregnant with Henry! After Henry was born, I realized it’s comes naturally to love the next one just as much as your first. And, this pregnancy I haven’t thought once if I could love our next one as much. I just know the way I feel about William and Henry will be multiplied by three!

Pregnancy is Still Just as Much of a Miracle

I may not have known what was developing at every exact moment in time, like when I was pregnant with my first, but I am fully aware that pregnancy is still just as much of a miracle as the first time. I’ve learned to appreciate my changing body, that each week baby has been growing and developing and just what an amazing a miracle and blessing it is.

Give Yourself Grace

With two toddlers to take care of, I’ve learned that you have to be willing to give yourself grace. Being pregnant is hard work and then having two little ones to care for on top of it means that some things get put on the back burner. My babies are always my top priority, along with my husband. Everything else gets done when it gets done!

Hoping that this is helpful for any of you contemplating having a third. We are so excited to be family of five!

Cheers,

Stia, Jean & Katherine

34 Week Bumpdate

May 28, 2019

Things are starting to get real! With only five weeks left, we realize we’ll be meeting our baby soon and we are so excited! We are starting to think about what we’ll need for this baby and trying to get the house in order. I’m hoping that “nesting” will kick in sooner rather than later so I can get our house organized! Sharing a 34 week bumpdate below and answering some FAQs below!

34 Week Bumpdate Outfit Details:

ruffle sleeve tee // midi skirt // sunglasses // sandals (similar) // straw bag

  • pregnant woman white tee coral skirt
  • pregnant woman white tee coral skirt
  • pregnant woman white tee coral skirt

How far along?

34 weeks 4 days.

How are you feeling?

I’ve been better 🙂 This pregnancy has been hard on me! Maybe it’s because it’s my third time to be pregnant and my body is just tired… Or maybe it’s because rest is hard to find with two toddler boys keeping me busy! I also don’t know that my bump can get any larger – I’ve never seen anything like it! Looks like I’m smuggling a basketball 🙂 Since we are nearing the end of pregnancy, my body is sore and tired and the insomnia is starting, too. I’m just trying to enjoy the process and be thankful for every day that we get closer to my due date and baby keeps on growing!

What do you think you are having?

I feel so sure we are having a boy! The boys both think a sister, but everyone else around me thinks boy, too.

Do you have names picked out?

Girl name, yes. We are getting closer on a boy name, too. I am pretty confident we won’t agree on a boy name until we know it’s a boy!

Cravings?

I really haven’t had any cravings this pregnancy. I am craving salads from Flower Child (went there three times for lunch last week) and The Original Chop Shop, but that’s really all!

Weight Gain

I’m about right where I was at this time when I was pregnant with Henry. Trying to add in a few snacks per day that fit within the gestational diabetes diet.

Are you working out?

Yes, still taking Pure Barre classes two days a week!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do you have gestational diabetes this time?

Yes, I do. I failed the one hour test and instead of taking the 3-hour test, my OB and I just assumed I have it given my history of having it while pregnant with both the boys. It hasn’t been too bad, just trying to stick to the gestational diabetes diet. For those who are unfamiliar, gestational diabetes is when a hormone in the placenta doesn’t process insulin the right way. I am able to control it with diet – limiting carbs/sugar. For breakfast, I can have 15-30g of carbs, then a mid morning snack of 15g of carbs. Lunch and dinner is 30-45g of carbs with one snack after each of 15g of carbs. I’ll also balance out each meal/snack with protein.

What are you doing to get ready for #3?

Not much! We do have a new car seat and I have the boys newborn clothes organized. I’ll probably start to wash them and get the bassinet and diaper area ready to go in our bedroom mid-June. Other than that, we are just waiting to see if we’re having a boy or girl before making any nursery decisions, etc! It’s amazing how much more laid back you become with each baby! I did order this newborn set for boy or girl for the hospital!

Where to buy maternity cocktail dresses for a wedding?

Hatch makes the best maternity clothes that you can wear post-partum, too! This blue dress is perfect for summer events, this dress is also perfect for a bump!

Did you have thyroid problems after pregnancy?

I haven’t had thyroid problems post-partum.

What is your #1 piece advice for first time moms?

This is hard! But, you will get lots of advice leading up to delivery and even after baby. Take each with a grain of salt and do what works best for you, your baby and your family. Also, know that each phase is that – just a phase. So try to enjoy every moment – even the sleepless nights because they will be over soon enough!

How are the boys doing as you get closer to having your third baby?

They are both getting really excited. William asks everyday if we get to meet our baby today and Henry always says “Hi, Baby” and gives my bump kisses. It’s been really sweet to see how much William is excited for a baby. He was only 20 months old when Henry was born, so he was still so young! Now, he is taking care of his “guys”, showing me bottles and asking me all kinds of questions about the baby. I’m excited that he gets to experience it at this age, too! I think Henry will have a harder time – he is a momma’s boy and I can’t help but think there will be an adjustment for him. I’m praying it goes smoothly!

Five Casual Dresses to Survive a Summer Pregnancy

April 30, 2019

Summers in Dallas get HOT. It’s hard enough to stay cool during the summer months as it is, but add in being pregnant and it could be unbearable! Henry was due September 8th, so this is my second summer pregnancy. And actually, even though it’s hot, I love being pregnant in the summer.

It’s so easy to throw on a dress and sandals or sneakers, and a lot of non-maternity dresses still fit around a bump! With a mix of maternity and non-maternity, I found that after having Henry so many of the things I wore while pregnant continued to work for me until it started cooling off. Dresses really are my go-to wardrobe item!

Outfit Details

pink striped short-sleeve dress // similar sandals under $100 // canvas tote bag // sunglasses

  • prada canvas tote bag white sandals pink striped dress
  • prada canvas tote bag pink striped dress
  • pink striped dress white tote bag
  • pink striped dress

Pink Striped Short- Sleeve Dress

The Easter bunny brought this pink striped short-sleeve dress in my Easter basket and clearly, he knew just what I needed (Thanks, mom!). If you’ve never worn Rails before, everything is soft and so light weight. The material is very breathable and the length is not too short. Rails is a non-maternity brand, so I sized up one size. You’ll be seeing a lot of this over the summer months because it’s nursing friendly, too!

Gray T-Shirt Dress

I ordered this gray t-shirt dress a few weeks ago and have been wearing it non-stop. It is lightweight, comfortable and will accommodate my ever-growing bump until July! I love that I can pair it with my go-to sneakers or sandals and can wear it from errands, to the park, to lunch.

Plaid Maxi Dress

Hatch is a great brand for pregnancy because you can wear it during and after pregnancy. I wore the brand during my pregnancy with Henry and I’ve loved it this time around, too. This plaid maxi is adorable and it was just released. I love the tiered style and the colors are perfect for summer. This is a dress I will wear now and also when baby is here!

White Poplin Dress

This cute little white dress screams summer. The poplin fabric is so lightweight and it just looks like a dress you could wear a million ways in the summer. Plus, the fit gives plenty of room for a growing bump!

Maxi Dress

I got this maxi dress in pink for Henry’s First Birthday and it’s one of those ones you just want to throw on all the time. It’s so easy to wear and even more comfortable. The pink is sold out, but it’s still available in black, white, blue and lilac.
