It’s so hard to believe that just a month ago I was still pregnant! I really do enjoy being pregnant and dressing while pregnant, although it’s always nice to get back into regular clothes! Being pregnant in the summer months is my favorite because of the ease of dressing a baby bump in summer clothes.

As you can see from my maternity style this pregnancy, I wore a lot of maxi dresses, sandals and headbands. You could call it my summer pregnancy uniform!

End of Pregnancy Bumpdate

June 28, 2019

It is the craziest thing that we’re expecting our baby any day now! I had my last appointment earlier this week and now we are just waiting it out. I thought I had gotten most of the “nesting” out of my system, but I found myself cleaning out and organzing our pantry, refrigerator and freezer, the boys’ bathroom and both of their closets. Hoping now I can relax a little!

It’s so bittersweet knowing that we are at the end of this pregnancy. It went by really fast and I am so excited to meet our baby. But then I am also sad that this will be my last pregnancy. Thanks for following along over the past few months and we are so excited to share the news soon! Xx

How far along?

I’m 39 weeks today!

How are you feeling?

So ready! Knowing that labor can happen at anytime and that we are “ready” to bring our baby home, I’m just so excited. I can’t wait to find out what we’re having, can’t wait for the boys to meet their new sibling and can’t wait for those newborn snuggles.

Gender Guesses

I still feel pretty confident that we will be having a baby boy! Boy or girl – I am just thrilled to find out soon! And no, we still haven’t decided on a boy name yet!

Signs of Labor

Nothing at all besides some Braxton Hicks contractions. I had my burst of energy/nesting two weeks ago and now just laying low, staying busy with the boys!

Induction

Because I have gestational diabetes, I am unable to go past my due date due to risk of having a big baby. We had a sonogram earlier this week and while baby is measuring right on track for gestational age, we decided to go ahead and schedule an induction for early next week. Eeek!

FAQS

What are your favorite nursing friendly dresses?

I ordered a few dresses for summer that are nursing friendly. I also plan to wear a lot that I’ve been wearing already. Most of them are nursing friendly and that makes it easy to feel more “normal” postpartum.

ADD SHOP

How are you surviving the heat?

A lot of time in the pool and avoiding any outdoor activities that don’t involve water! The boys have swim lessons twice a week and we are in the pool pretty much every day for a few hours. They can’t get enough of the water and it’s been nice to float and feel cool. I’ve also been fortunate that it’s been a cooler June than we normally have and the heat hasn’t been too terrible yet!

How did you know you wanted kids close in age?

We always wanted our kids to be close in age, have things in common and we are praying for close relationships, too. We know that you can have all those things with kids spread further apart, we just liked the idea of a closer age gap.

Favorite girl names?

We both like more traditional, old-fashioned baby names for girls. I’ll share our list after baby arrives. The girl name we’ve decided on is a family name that has been used for generations.

Are you thinking you’re maxed out at three?

Yes, we are done!

Do you have a nanny?

We don’t, but my parents live 1/2 a mile away and are always lending a hand. Couldn’t do it without them! I’ll see how the rest of summer goes and how we do once pre-school starts back up for the boys this Fall before deciding if I need more help.

What’s in My Hospital Bag

June 21, 2019

I can’t believe we are in the final countdown to baby! I’ve been nesting like crazy and I’ve finally gotten around to getting my hospital bag stuff together and ready to throw in my bag when needed!

Caleb was out of town earlier this week and now that he’s back home, I can relax knowing he won’t miss the birth of our baby! I don’t expect the baby to come earlier than my induction date, but you never know. We are busy wrapping up a few things and enjoying our time with the boys before they meet their new sibling!

With this being our third time having a baby, I still believe a less is more approach is best for the hospital. If all goes smoothly, I pray we just have to spend one night in the hospital. We had the option with Henry, but he started choking on amniotic fluid and, on the nurses advice, we decided to stay put for the second night. I plan to bring two sets of pajamas in case, but this is what’s in my hospital bag this time around!

What’s in My Hospital Bag

Clothing

  • Pajamas: I love something soft and nursing friendly for the hospital. Cosabella has the softest pajamas. I plan on bringing this blue and white set and this nursing friendly nightie – hoping we only stay one night, but I’m prepared if we’re there for two!
  • Nursing Bras: My absolute favorite nursing bras are from Cosabella. I did a refresh and ordered a white, blush and blue to get me through those first few months!
  • Headband: I love this new floral headband and I think it’s just the thing to keep my hair out of my way and still look cute for visitors.
  • Going home: I ordered this striped maxi dress in blue and love that’s nursing friendly to wear home from the hospital.

Toiletries

  • Skincare: I plan to bring a few favorites like the intense hydrating mask to wear overnight, my favorite serum and eye cream. (You can see some of our favorite skincare products here)
  • Cleansing wipes: I decided to bring these face wipes to wash my face at night and in the morning – you never know just how exhausted you’ll be and I love the option of not having to get out of bed to clean my face.
  • Chapstick: This lip balm is so hydrating and adds just a little bit of color.
  • Makeup: I feel better after delivery with a little make-up on, so I will bring my five minute make-up routine.
  • Earth Mama nipple butter: I’ll start to use this balm in the hospital to help with the initial pains of breastfeeding.
  • Nursing pads: In case my milk comes in, I’ll bring a few of these lanolin free nursing pads.

For Baby

  • Going home outfit: While we’re in the hospital, I typically keep the baby swaddled in the hospital blankets, so will just pack a going home outfit. Henry wore this darling debut set a lot when he was a newborn, so we have one blue and one pink for this baby, depending on the gender!
  • Blanket: Blue or pink polka dots depending on gender.
  • Car seat: We got the MESA car seat in a pretty blue/gray color for this baby!

Misc.

  • iPhone Charger: With an extra long cord to reach the hospital plugs.
  • GH Mumm: Having a baby is to be celebrated and we plan to toast our new baby just like we did for William and Henry and my parents did for my brother and me! We always bring GH Mumm to continue the tradition.
  • Pink/Blue Bubblegum Cigars: Once baby is here, Caleb heads to the waiting room to announce the gender – always with blue (or pink) cigars to pass out!

Cheers,

Stia, Jean and Katherine
