20-week bumpdate

April 25, 2017

floral cold shoulder midi dress20 weeks. It’s so hard to believe that we are already halfway through this pregnancy! When we first announced I was pregnant, I mentioned that the time seemed to be flying by and it seems like it still is, but even faster now. We had our 20-week sonogram last week. It’s always so exciting to see your baby! I was so tempted to find out the gender, but Caleb made me look away… so, we will be guessing from here on out… 🙂

 How far along?

20 weeks, 4 days

How are you feeling?

No more morning sickness (thankfully!), but still so tired. I think this must be because I am chasing a toddler that doesn’t sit still all day!

Gender guesses

I was fairly confident that we were having a girl early on. I was so sick, so emotional and just felt completely different. But now that all those symptoms have gone away, I don’t know what to think! Either way, we are brainstorming two names for the hospital. Any guesses from you guys?!

Cravings

My sweet tooth has not subsided. I’m trying so hard to be healthy, but to be honest nothing healthy sounds good. I used to love avocado and hummus and now I can barely get it down…

Weight gain

5 pounds and I have definitely popped. Even since taking these pictures last week my bump has gotten more noticeable!

Maternity clothes

I’m still in non-maternity jeans, but not for much longer. I have a favorite pair of jeans from last pregnancy, and I don’t think I’ll buy any new ones. With summer right around the corner, I am pretty sure that I will be wearing loose dresses or a swimsuit for the next 4.5 months. I do have a few dresses that I have picked up and am excited to wear over the next few months: you’ve seen this red off the shoulder dress (I wore it Thursday night to the rewardStyle conference), this white off the shoulder dress is coming with me on a trip in May and I plan to wear this top as a cover-up soon!

 Exercise

I’m keeping up with two Flywheel classes a week and walks on the other days. William loves the park, so I am also getting exercise running up and down the park, taking him down the slides and chasing after him.

Calcium

This was news to me, but did you know that pre-natal vitamins only have 20-30% off your daily calcium intake? This was news to me when I started to research nursing while pregnant. Because my pregnancies are close together and calcium stores haven’t been replenished fully, it is so important for me to make sure that I am getting enough calcium for both baby and myself. As pregnant women, if we don’t get enough calcium, baby will take it from our bones, putting our bone health at risk. After talking to my doctor, we agreed that a 500mg calcium supplement would be the right amount for me, on top of what is in my pre-natal vitamin and my every day diet. I was so happy to discover Viactiv after not being able to keep down a traditional calcium tablet (sorry, TMI!). It never upsets my stomach and I don’t have to take it with food- big plus! Viactiv comes in soft chew form and has two flavors – milk chocolate and caramel. The milk chocolate is my favorite :). I always carry them with me so I can take them while I’m on the run during the day!

Sleep

I find that I really need more sleep right now. William is sleeping twelve hours every night, so I’m trying to get myself in bed at a reasonable hour. It’s hard because I’m a night owl by nature, but everyone pays the price if I don’t get enough sleep!

Things to do

Move. J/k – well kinda! Our house is a two bedroom town home on three levels. So, besides the inconvenience of William and Baby #2 having to share a room, there are those stairs! All kidding aside, we’ll need to get William into a toddler bed and add onto our stroller before Baby’s arrival. I’m really just starting my to-do list! Like I said, this pregnancy is flying by and that’s all I have on my list so far…

34 week bumpdate

December 3, 2015

cute pregnancy style, what to wear when you are late in your pregnancy

34 weeks down, 6 (ish) to go! The second half of pregnancy has flown by. I can’t believe we are near the end and will be meeting our little one so soon. In fact, when we get back from Santa Barbara next week, I am no longer able to fly and will be a homebody until Baby Coffman decides to show up! With only six weeks left, I am trying to get as organized as possible.  My plan is to tackle the nursery closet first.  The nursery has a huge closet that we have used as storage for the past three years.  I am waiting for the nesting hormones to kick in before getting started, but not sure when that will happen! With Christmas and New Year’s right around the corner, I know January 14th will be here before we know it! You can read previous bumpdates by clicking on these links: 12 weeks, 20 weeks and 28 weeks.

34 week bumpdate:

  • How far along? 34 weeks
  • Size of Baby: 20 inches and about 5 pounds or the size of a pineapple
  • Gender: Going to be a surprise- See our reasons why we are waiting here
  • Names: Boy name is picked out, but we have absolutely no idea of a name if Baby C is a girl.  Getting a little nervous about this because we can’t leave hospital without deciding on a name!
  • Milestones:
    • Baby kicking: Baby is very active and at times the kicks can be painful! Lots of feet in my ribs which is forcing me to sit straight up.
    • Baby Shower: A few weeks ago, family friends threw a beautiful baby shower to celebrate Baby Coffman. It was such a special day and one that I will remember forever! You can see details from the shower here and what I wore here. Although the nursery is not at all close to being finished, we have received pretty much anything and everything that baby will need.  Now the fun part, getting the room organized and decorated!
    • Gestational Diabetes: Not that I would consider this a milestone, but during routine third trimester testing I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes.  Gestational diabetes is caused during pregnancy when hormones cause cells to use insulin less effectively.  The main concern is keeping blood sugars in the normal range and it is controlled by diet and exercise. Funny enough, I eat very well and have consistently exercised through out pregnancy! Fortunately, since I was diagnosed and have been keeping track of my blood sugar almost all of my readings have been within the normal range- Praise God!  As soon as baby is delivered, my body will go back to processing insulin as usual.
    • Birthing class: Because I am planning an unmedicated hospital birth (Yes, I know I am crazy), Caleb and I have been preparing for the whole process with birthing classes. We decided to take Bradley Method classes, because it encourages a husband-coached labor and delivery process. With our last class next week, I am feeling much more prepared and know a lot more about the entire labor process. That doesn’t mean I am not anxious about the birthing experience!
    • Hospital Tour: Talk about making things seem real! The hospital tour made the two of us realize 1) this is really happening and 2) this is happening soon! I feel better knowing which entrance to use if labor starts in the middle of the night, what the labor & delivery rooms are like, and seeing where family and friends will be waiting!
  • Weight Gain: 13 pounds
  • Maternity clothes: This has been a frustrating topic lately 🙂 Now that I am nearing the end of pregnancy, I am trying to make do without buying more maternity clothes. It gets frustrating wearing the same shirts over and over and trying to come up with new outfits! We will see if I can hold out for the next month or so, but I may have to give in to a dress or two for holiday parties!
  • Pregnancy symptoms: The occasional backache, but thankfully I am still feeling pretty normal. No swelling yet!
  • Sleeping: Still sleeping great– the pregnancy insomnia hasn’t hit me yet and praying it stays that way!
  • Food cravings: Nothing in particular, although a diet lemonade from Chick-Fil-A always hits the spot
  • Exercise: I have had to cut back to taking just three FlyBarre classes a week. My body is getting tired more easily, so I am trying to take it slow and relax more!

baby news

July 6, 2015

baby announcement, welcome baby|image via|

We are so excited to share the news that Stia and Caleb are expecting their first baby in January!  It has been so hard to keep this news a secret since finding out in early May, but now that the baby news is out, we are excited to share some updates throughout my pregnancy! Caleb and I can’t wait to be parents and plan to enjoy every second of this journey.  Pregnancy is truly a miracle from God and we are so glad He chose us to be parents to this precious baby!  It’s hard to believe I am almost in the second trimester!  I would love to hear from all you other moms for tips and advice because I am going to need it!

  • How far along? 12 weeks and 4 days, almost through the first trimester
  • Due Date: January 14, 2016
  • Gender: Caleb and I have decided to wait until Baby Coffman makes his/her appearance to find out.  But, we are having fun trying to guess from all the old wives’ tales we are hearing!
  • Milestones: Heard Baby Coffman’s heart beat at our appointment a few weeks ago and it was the best thing we have ever heard!
  • Pregnancy symptoms: Extremely tired
  • Sleeping: I have never slept better in my life– Getting 10 to 11 hours a night, which has been amazing
  • Food cravings: Root Beer, which is so strange because I haven’t had a soda in years, and also any iced drink.  At the beginning of my pregnancy I went through a brown fried rice stage, too
  • Food aversions: Greek yogurt, hot drinks and hummus.  All things I used to eat daily!
  • Exercise: So far keeping up with classes at Flywheel Sports four times a week and will continue as long as I can!
  • Books: I have been reading What to Expect When You are Expecting and Bringing Up Bébé, but looking for more suggestions!
  • Nursery: Because we have decided to not find out the gender of Baby Coffman, we have been busy trying to come up with a gender neutral nursery. We officially have a plan now and we will give you one hint… This giraffe is already in Baby C’s nursery!

PS: Jean and Bill are headed to CO today for relaxation in the mountains– Follow along on Instagram and Snapchat (username: bishopnholland) to see glimpses at their trip!
