Ford’s 15 Month Update

October 6, 2020

Time flies! Ford has always been such a fun baby, but the past few months with him have been especially fun. He is now taking only one nap, so we have a lot more time during the day to be together. He is so busy, never stopping and he loves to eat. He is growing like crazy! And it seems like every day he is learning something new that he can’t wait to show us!

I am really loving this age, because William and Henry are back at school and that means I get two days a week with Ford only. It’s the best.

Height/Weight

Ford weighs almost 25 pounds and is in the 97% for height.

Sleeping

Thankfully, Ford has no trouble going down for bed or naps. He’s the easiest one to get to sleep and is still sleeping right through the night.

Personality

Ford continues to have so much personality. He is so busy and into everything. We keep saying that he is trying to keep up with his older brothers – everything they do, he attempts!

He is always walking around with his lovey “bun bun” and now a baby doll too. He is still a thumb sucker and he gets so cuddly when he’s sleepy!

He loves playing chase, still dances all the time and sings “EIEIO”, “Row Row” and now “B-I-N-G-O” It is so cute! He points at everything, loves handing something to you and saying “here” and he climbs on everything!

Schedule

The biggest change in Ford’s schedule is that he is now taking one nap a day. With that change, he normally wakes up around 8ish, nap is around 1 and bedtime around 7. On the days when he wakes up early or he seems to be tired, I’ll put him down for a morning cat nap. His schedule really just depends on the day!

Nursing/Weaning

I always take a slow, gradual weaning process. Ford is now down to just nursing in the morning and at night.

Solids

Ford is still a huge fan of eating anything and everything and not much has changed since his one year update. I know his food strike is coming, but right now he is loving food. He grew two inches in two months so he needs lots of energy for his growing body!

Travel

After much thoughtful consideration, we decided to go on our family trip to San Diego in August. We had the absolute best time. Ford was all about the sand and water and it was a huge change from our trip to San Diego when he was only 2 months old!

Milestones

  • Basically, running anywhere and everywhere. He’s even started to jump up and down!
  • Ford’s vocabulary is really taking shape. He loves to say bun bun, his brothers’ names, look, here, i love you, pumpkin, mama, dada, gigi, wow and his favorite word – “no, no”
  • Feeds himself with spoon and fork
  • Moved to a convertible car seat

Must-Have Baby Items for 15 month olds:

  • Sippy cups
  • Ford loves this baby doll
  • Stacking cups and blocks
  • Cozy hat for winter
  • Booster seat
  • Convertible car seat
  • Plates, cups, silverware
  • You can see what our must-haves are for 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 12 months, too.

Cheers,

Stia, Jean and Katherine

15 months with henry

December 13, 2018

15 months with henry mama and baby boy in nurseryOur little Henry is 15-months old! I could hardly believe that it was time to schedule his 15 month well visit! It seemed like we were just there for his one year appointment, but here we are and he has changed so much in the last three months. I know he’s still a baby, but all he wants to do is everything William is doing, which makes it seem like he’s much older than he is!

The biggest change from his one year update is that Henry is now full-on walking! Around his first birthday he was taking a few steps, but at 13 months he just started to take off and he hasn’t stopped since! We’re pretty sure it’s because he’s trying to keep up with big brother 😉

We love and adore you Henry!

Outfit Details

bubble // plaid top // jeans // giraffe // prints // crib

Weight/Height

Henry is 90% for height and 50% for weight.

Sleeping

Henry is still sleeping through the night, thankfully! We did have a few nights when he would wake up around 5 a.m. crying, but he was cutting his molars. He is back to sleeping around 11-12 hours a night. He takes one nap in his crib in the afternoon and we try to sneak in one cat nap in the car in the morning while we’re out and about!

Personality

This little boy has got some major personality! He is sweet as can be and just as sassy, too. He loves to give kisses, hugs and his favorite person to be around is his brother. He is still attached to my hip most days and I love it!

He isn’t afraid of anything and climbs on everything. I can’t take my eyes off of him for one second or he’ll have himself in some peculiar situation! He plays hard and ends up with a new bruise most days! He loves his vacuum and he pushes it around for hours a day (if only it worked as well as our big one!).

He tries to do everything William does and I love watching them interact. We are at that stage where they are truly starting to play with each other and it’s so sweet! They make up games and I love to see their relationship start to take off. They play hard and they also fight like brothers ;). Henry loves to run and knock on William’s door while he’s napping. It’s hard trying to keep him out of William’s room if he’s awake while William is sleeping! They already have plans to share a room when Henry moves out of his crib.

Schedule

We went through a stretch when Henry was waking up earlier than usual, but I’m happy to say that he’s back to waking around 7:30 most days. He nurses once in the morning and I usually grab him from his crib and bring him into our room for morning snuggles. William wakes up around 7:45 most days, so we start breakfast then! The boys will play while I pick up from breakfast and try to get ready for the day. We tend to do our activity or errands in the morning and we are usually out the door by ten, unless William has school that day! Henry almost always falls asleep in the car on the way to wherever we are going and then I wake him up when we get there – he doesn’t transfer from car seat to stroller very well! We do lunch around 12:30/1 and then they boys typically nap from 2-4ish. Henry has a snack when he wakes up and then we play at the house, go for a walk or the park if it’s nice and then try to be home around 5:30 to get ready for dinner. Dinner is usually by 6:30 and then bath and bed by 7:30/8!

Nursing/Eating

This was probably the question I got asked the most on Instagram. I have been slowly weaning Henry since he turned one in September. He was nursing about 5 times around his first birthday and I just started to skip the feeding after naps and offer a snack instead. I did this for about a month, then decided to drop his feeding before his afternoon nap. That left us with him eating once in the morning and once before bed! At the end of November, Caleb and I had a date night and I decided to not nurse him before we left. Since he didn’t seem to mind, I decided to try it again and just like that he dropped his night feeding. I will probably wean him completely in the next few weeks, although it makes me sad!

Henry loves solids – he will eat pretty much anything and has no problem letting you know if 1) he’s still hungry or 2) he doesn’t like what he’s eating! His favorite foods are yogurt, blueberries, cheese, beans, and eggs. He also loves blueberry muffins!

Travel

We took a trip to Vegas to celebrate my great-Aunt’s 80th birthday. We had the best time and the boys loved relaxing by the pool all day long! Henry continues to be a great traveler and he just goes with the flow. When he gets too tired, we’ll take him for a quick stroll and then he’s asleep for a few hours!

Milestones

  • A lot of you had questions on when Henry first started walking. He took steps around a year, but didn’t “walk” until closer to 13 months!
  • Henry went from 8 teeth to 12 teeth – He cut his 1 year molars!
  • First loss of his “baba”: Baba goes with us everywhere, so you can imagine it was pretty traumatic when we lost baba for two days. Henry had dropped it during William’s pre-school drop off and we found it in the lost and found a few days later! Now we have a bak-up incase we lose it again.
  • He is talking so well and saying new words everyday: momma, dada, baba, gigi, brother, nonie, kat, bye bye, night night, uh oh, thank you, please, that, Santa, cracker, yogurt, ned (the name of our stuffed giraffe), neigh, meow, moo, block, book and yes.
  • Caleb and I had our first night away from Henry at the end of November. The boys stayed with my parents while we attended Caleb’s work party. Henry did much better than we anticipated, since he is a full fledge momma’s boy!
  • We also spent a weekend in Charleston to celebrate Katherine’s birthday! My MIL and SIL watched the boys all weekend and they said Henry did great. It’s always nice to have that first time away under your belt!

Must-Have Baby Items:

  • Our favorite shoes for walking – Henry has them in red and navy
  • Booster seat for dining: Henry was over his highchair a while back. He wasn’t the same height as William and couldn’t sit right next to him at meal times, so this was the perfect answer. We can put it at the table or on a bar stool depending on where we’re eating.
  • I know it may be silly to spend this much on a baby coat, but we got this for William for his first winter and now Henry’s worn it two years in a row! The key is to size up and roll the sleeves to last longer than one year. It cleans up great and the hood comes off.
  • Again, I have no idea what we would do if we didn’t have Henry’s “baba“
  • We’ve hit the mega blocks stage and Henry is always building!
  • favorite books: Henry is loving this London book and any of the Jellycat books!
  • Henry got this small bunny for his birthday and he loves talking to it when he goes to bed and in the morning!

15 months with william + giveaway!

April 17, 2017

baby boy out for a walk with mom

|william at 15 months|

It’s been three months since William’s last update and it seems like so much has changed! He’s really a toddler now, not a baby, and he is more fun every single day. And, being a mom is that much more rewarding and exhausting! He literally doesn’t stop while he is awake – just to eat and occasionally he’ll sit to read a book. The biggest challenge over the last three months? Knowing when to drop William to one nap a day. After we made the change, we were both much happier and are glad to be back in a groove. Did any of you mom’s also struggle with when to drop a nap?

To celebrate 15 months with William, we’ve teamed up with Freshly Picked to giveaway three pair of Freshly Picked moccasins (William’s favorite shoes!), to one reader – To enter, keep scrolling to the end of this post!

Height/Weight

We go to William’s pediatrician on Wednesday, so I don’t have exact measurements! I do know that he has grown so much since his first birthday. Or maybe it’s just that he’s upright walking around he seems so much bigger!

Sleeping

After a little regression around nine months, William has been sleeping twelve hours a night since about ten months old. He was always a good sleeper, just getting up to nurse once a night (other than the regression). Thankfully, he loves his sleep now! He dropped his afternoon nap just two weeks ago, so we are now adjusting to life with one nap. He and I both 😉

Nursing

After finding out I was pregnant on NYE, I knew that I would need to wean William to give my body a break before baby #2 arrives. Right now, we have weaned all feedings other than nursing right when he wakes up in the morning. I will most likely drop the morning feeding in the next few weeks. It is so bittersweet. I am so happy that breastfeeding worked well for us. I will miss that special one on one time with William, but I know that my body needs a rest before doing it all over again in September! I’ll just have to sneak my snuggles in when we’re reading books and throughout the day when he’ll let me.

Personality

William is such a ham. He plays tricks and just realized when he’s funny (which makes him laugh even harder), wants to spend every waking second outside (if he sees the pool, stroller or wagon – it’s all over), he communicates very well (although he just has about 5 words) and is the sweetest little boy. He loves giving out kisses, blowing kisses, waving, raising his hands, clapping, shaking his head no and gives the biggest hugs. He started walking a few weeks ago, and ever since then he is always on his feet getting around. He hands Gigi her sunglasses and hat when he wants to go for a walk and we always end up at the playground – on the swings or slides. He loves to mimic – He “cheers” during meals, pretends to talk on the phone, brushes his teeth and hair, and fakes coughing. In just the past three months, it’s incredible how much he’s grown up and that he seems so much more like a little boy than a baby!

Solids

My goodness, this boy can eat. We joke that he eats more than we do, but of course, it fluctuates from day to day. Breakfast is usually a cup of oatmeal, almond butter toast with bananas and then some fruit. For lunch, we do anything from quesadillas, grilled cheese, burritos, tuna or avocado toast. I’ll start him with some veggies (peas, carrots and corn are his favorites) and we finish with fruit. For dinner, I feed William a variation of what we are eating for dinner. He loves taco meat (usually ground turkey with kidney beans and Whole Foods taco seasoning), fish, ground beef or beans. Again, we give veggies to start and finish with “dessert” aka fruit. William will eat pretty much anything, but he’s a typical toddler in that he loves one fruit or veggie one week and the next week won’t even look at it!

Snacks

Because we are on the go a lot, I tend to keep a few go-to snacks in my purse. William loves string cheese (or any cheese in general) and cut up fruit. But some days, it just isn’t practical to have food in my purse all day, so I’ve been keeping Pure Growth Organics snacks in my bag. You guys, William loves them. His favorites are the strawberry breakfast bites and the snack mix. They make the perfect on the go snack and I love that they are organic, something that is hard to find in a packaged snack food. We try to feed William strictly organic, which isn’t always possible, but it’s so nice to have organic snacks for on-the-go and while traveling.

Schedule

Now that we are down to one nap a day, William typically wakes up around 7:30. I’ll nurse him, we’ll read a few books and then head downstairs to eat breakfast around 8. During the morning, we will run a few errands, go for a walk, play at the house and then we usually start lunch around 11:30/12. William takes a nap around 12:30/1 and sleeps for a good three hours. When he wakes up, we usually have a snack then more playtime and we start dinner around 6/6:30. Following dinner is bath time and then we play in William’s room, settle down with a few books, say our prayers and he’s usually asleep by 7:30!

Teeth

This guy has a moth full of teeth! We are just waiting on those two year molars.

Travel

We’ve been to LA and Las Vegas with William this year and I will say that traveling with a toddler is way different than a baby who sleeps the whole flight. We have quite a bit of travel planned until August, when we are homebound to await the arrival of baby brother or sister! I’ll plan to share our tips/tricks for traveling with a toddler after the next few trips are under our belt. Find our traveling with a baby tips here and here!

Favorite Products

  • We love our UPPAbaby Vista and G-LUXE. They are at the top of our list because we use them so much!
  • Clothing from The Beaufort Bonnet Company. We love the traditional options for William and that pretty much everything can be personalized.
  • His sleep suit is so cuddly and when we put it on William, he knows it’s time for bed, and he is ready!
  • William took right to this sippy cup. He has some pretty cute ways to open it to get to the straw 🙂
  • A dual camera baby monitor – can’t tell you how excited I am about this now and especially when baby brother/sister arrives. This is a new addition to the nursery and essential.
  • William has two “lovies” that he takes everywhere 1) his “baba” aka blanket and 2) Ellie the elephant. We lost Ellie the other day and had to order a new one immediately. William knew it wasn’t the right one (kids are so smart) and when we finally found the real Ellie on Friday, he was so excited and kept hugging her and wouldn’t set her down.
