July was a month filled with fun travel experiences and all the summer things! We kicked off July with our 3rd Annual San Diego beach trip. It’s one of the best weeks of the year for us all and this year didn’t disappoint. After we returned from San Diego, Stia and Caleb headed to the lake for a few days with friends from college, while the boys camped out at Gigi’s house. Everyone had the best time!

After the lake it was a trip to 30A with Caleb’s family. It was our first time there and we loved it. The boys spent morning at the beach and afternoons resting up for dinners out with the family. It was a sweet time. Stia had a quick turnaround from the 30A directly onto another flight heading to Turks and Caicos for a girls’ trip. It was a deeply meaningful celebration of her high school friend’s victory over breast cancer and our group of friends made the most of our special time together.

In the midst of all the travel, we had a couple of milestones- William lost his first tooth and the following week he lost his second tooth. The tooth fairy was busy around here!

We feel like we made the most of our summer and ready to start William off to kindergarten this week. Eek!!

We kicked off July with a low key (but fun!) 4th of July celebration at Jean’s house. It was actually on the 3rd of July and we had a great time swimming and eating and hanging out. It was perfect. The 4th of July was more of the same and we wern’t a bit mad about it. We dressed festively, waved our flags and celebrated our great country.

William and Henry started tennis lessons at our country club in July and it gave us all a little bit of a “schedule”. Now on Wednesday mornings we are up and dressed with breakfast in hand heading for the courts. William is obsessed and Henry can basically take it or leave it. He’d rather go play on the kids’ putting green or ride in a golf cart. William is getting the hang of it and hitting the ball really well. It’s so much fun to watch how excited he is about it.

There were a few lake weekends throughout the month for a change of scenery and change of daily pace. One of the weekends Stia left all three boys for the first time for two nights. That was a definite milestone!

July in Review

Our July had a lot going on! We were all adjusting to life with Ford. Which wasn’t very hard- he’s such a good, sweet baby. Caleb took off the first two weeks after Ford was born and I can’t believe what a huge difference it was compared to the the other two boys when he had to go right back to work. It was really nice becoming a family of five together. We did some family outings, some lazy days at home and a lot of swimming for the big boys at Gigi’s house.

William and Henry had a 4th of July staycation with Gigi and G.B. at a local hotel and they had a blast. They swam and played games and wore themselves out. But they did manage to stay awake for the fireworks display right outside of their hotel room window. They loved it! It looks like it might become an annual event.

It wasn’t long before Stia started getting cabin fever and we were out and about with the boys and baby Ford. One of our most exciting adventures was visiting Aunt Kat at work. She works at a law firm in downtown Dallas and her office is on the 42nd floor. What a view! William could see most of his favorite Dallas landmarks.

Sundays became a day to spend relaxing at Gigi’s house. After the boys have their naps we’ve started heading over there to swim and play and have dinner. It’s been a really fun tradition that started after Ford was born. It’s a great way to finish the weekend and get ready for the week ahead!
