October in Review

November 2, 2021

family group dressed as paw patrol characters

October is always one of our favorite months. Fall is in full swing with all the fun fall activities. We started a new tradition this year with the boys having their first ever “stand”. They have been wanting to have a “lemonade stand” but we decided to make it a “mini pumpkin muffin stand”. They helped make the muffins and the sign, and then we set up shop on the corner near our house. It was so much fun!

And October is the month our neighborhood has an annual campout party in the park with bounce houses and games and then camping out in each yard with the kids and the dads. Everyone looks forward to this event. In the morning there are donuts at the park for everyone- it’s a blast!

We also celebrated Justin’s (Katherine’s husband) birthday with the whole family and a birthday brunch at Jean’s house. We had breakfast tacos with all the works, mimosas and, of course, a birthday cake and presents. We all had a blast, but the little boys most of all, celebrating Uncle “Uh oh”!

The boys were really looking forward to carving their pumpkins (or having them carved) this year. It turns out Caleb is a master pumpkin carver. This year, by request, he did 007 (William), Jaws (Henry) and Batman (Ford). Not your traditional pumpkins but so much fun for the boys!

Of course, we ended the month full of Halloween festivities and trick-or-treating with the boys!

three brothers sitting on a bridge

// pumpkin outfits //

Ok, you guys…where did October even go?! It’s always one of our favorite months and we kicked it off with one of our favorite things to do in the fall- a visit to the Dallas Arboretum and the Pumpkin Village.

Our visit to Pumpkin Village looked a little different this year, but not in a bad way at all. Reservations in advance were necessary and the Arboretum is limiting the number of guests in four hour increments. That ended up making our visit a lot less hectic and a lot more enjoyable. The boys went crazy over Pumpkin Village! They seriously could not get enough and loved ending our visit picking out a pumpkin to take home.

This year marked our second annual neighborhood camp out. It’s such a fun night! All the neighbors and kids gather outside in their yards and it’s just a fun time of community. Most families pitch tents and sleep outside. This year William and Henry made it through the night (with Caleb) and loved every bit of it.

We had an impromptu kids free weekend when the boys went to stay with Caleb’s parents overnight. We all went out to a newish Dallas restaurant and had such a fun night. It’s been awhile since we’ve done that!

Katherine’s husband Justin had a birthday in October. And while our official birthday dinner isn’t until this weekend, we’ve found plenty of opportunities to celebrate him!

Last, but not least, Halloween! It was one of the best yet. We gathered outside with the neighbors and so many kids. The kids all had a blast with a pinata, glow sticks and trick or treating in the neighborhood.

We hope you all had some good highlights for the month! Thanks so much for following along 🙂

floral maxi dress
(one of our top selling items for october)

October is always one of our favorite months, because usually by October fall has arrived in Dallas. This year it took the whole month, but we finally had fall-like weather! In the meantime, we spent a lot of time at the amazing park and playground that recently opened nearby. The boys love spending time there and so do we!

Jean made a quick weekend trip with Bill to Las Vegas to celebrate their wedding anniversary. They went to see Rod Stewart in concert and it was amazing! He puts on a great show.

We made our annual trip to the Dallas Arboretum to take the boys to the pumpkin patch. They had a blast. They were both really into climbing all over the pumpkins. After the pumpkin patch we headed to the splash pad for some water play. Only in Texas! The boys also hosted their first annual pumpkin party. It was so much to have all their friends and ours at the house for pumpkin decorating, Halloween tattoos and Cowboys football. We can’t wait for next year.

Ford was dedicated at church and family and friends were there to pray over him and us. It’s such a blessing to have family and friends who support and love us and our boys.

Henry had his first haircut and he moved to his big boy bed. We are so proud of him! He never looked back. But William also moved to Henry’s big boy bed. So the two of them are sleeping in the same bed and they love having sleepovers every night!

Halloween was so much fun! The boys were really into it this year. We went to the fall festival at their school, went to a neighbor’s house for Halloween fun before trick or treating and then finished off with trick or treating in Jean’s neighborhood and ours. We were all exhausted!

We celebrated Justin’s birthday and continued to celebrate into this month. You cannot celebrate too much, right? We finished with a trip to LA and a new tradition of family birthday trips for 35th birthdays.
