home sweet new home

family toasting to a new home

on stia: white top // jeans // sandals

on caleb: navy shirt // shorts // sneakers

on the boys: gingham jon jon // gingham bubble // yellow natives

When we bought our townhouse five years ago, kids were not on our radar at all. We were newly married and just excited to have a place of our own that we had worked hard for! Ever since I found out we were pregnant with William, we knew that the town home wasn’t going to be ideal for us long term. It’s only two bedrooms and both bedrooms are on the third floor. But still, we loved it. It’s in a great location where we can walk to tons of restaurants and shops and Caleb even walks to work. We had a hard time thinking of giving all that up! Fast forward to Henry and it just got harder and harder to get the boys up/down the stairs – let alone everything else I had to haul along with me. We also wanted more space and a backyard for the boys to be able to step outside to play.

Long story short – Home sweet (new!) home! We had been casually looking, but about a month ago decided we would stop for awhile and be content where we were because nothing was coming on the market. I decided to drive through a neighborhood we liked one day while Henry was sleeping in the car. I spotted a house with a “For Sale” sign that I hadn’t seen before. The outside had great curb appeal and it had just come on the market, so I emailed the house listing to Caleb and we decided to reach out to our realtor to see it. Come to find out the house had multiple offers already, but the realtor was going to let us take a look that evening, even though they had decided to stop accepting offers. As soon as we walked in we felt like it was the perfect house to become our home. We figured out a game plan and submitted an offer, hoping and praying that we would get the house. Our offer ended up being the one chosen by the seller! We are just so thankful for God’s timing and provision throughout the whole situation.

When I say the house was “perfect” I wasn’t describing how it looks on the inside… the house is 25 years old and hasn’t been touched since it was built! We have our work cut out for us! But, it has a great bones and is in a great neighborhood where the boys will be able to walk to school. We’re planning to move in with my parents in July and live with them until our remodel is complete.

I am so excited to make this home our own and tackle our first (rather large) renovation project! Now, let’s hope we are in by the Fall 😉  Would love to hear from any of you who have done a renovation project and any of you who are working on one now! I think we will need all the help we can get!

PS: I’ve been pinning away (Are you following us on Pinterest?!) and finding decor inspiration on some of my favorite websites – Frontgate, Wisteria, Serena & Lily and Lulu and Georgia!

Cheers,

Stia, Jean and Katherine

merry christmas and happy new year

December 21, 2017

Christmas pajamas

Merry Christmas!! Like we said in Tuesday’s post, Christmas is one of our favorite times of the year- if not our very favorite time of the year! One of the things we try to keep in the forefront of our thoughts and words is what Christmas is really all about- the birth of our King and Savior, Jesus Christ. We love to read the words of the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 9:6, predicting the birth of Jesus so long before the event and we love reading the words from the New Testament in Luke 2:1-21, telling about the actual birth of Jesus. This is one of our long held Christmas morning traditions.

Another long time tradition we have is getting matching Christmas pajamas ever year. It’s so special to wake up on Christmas morning in festive pajamas. We usually wear them beginning late on Christmas Eve and pretty much stay in them all day on Christmas Day. It’s so much fun finding coordinating pajamas for us and William and Henry now. This year Katherine and Justin will be in Austin for Christmas, so we broke out our Christmas pajamas a little early!

PS: This is our last post until 2018! We have highlighted 2017 below. What a year! From celebrating William turning one last January to Henry being born in September, lots of travel, fashion and so grateful for good health. We appreciate each and every one of you taking the time to follow along on our adventures and give us your love and support. We couldn’t be more thankful. We are excited to take off the rest of the year to relax and recharge and we look forward to seeing you all back here in 2018! xx

holiday tablescape with frontgate

December 12, 2017

holiday toast rosé champagneDecorating for the holidays is one of our favorite things about this time of year. So when Frontgate asked us if we would like to work on a project finding a unique way to style ornaments, we couldn’t wait! As soon as we saw the beautiful French Blue and Linen ornament collection, we knew they were perfect for our Holiday brunch tablescape. We used the ornaments to fill Jean’s vintage cut crystal punch bowl and made that the centerpiece of our brunch table. The French Blue and White ornaments are so elegant and the color scheme fits right into Jean’s existing decor, making it so easy to put this together! Just learning that blue, white and gold are the colors of Advent, make this color scheme even better for our Holiday table. We added antique crystal champagne glasses, classic blue and white plates and gold flatware. Some mercury glass votives and little Christmas trees rounded out our tablescape, and the finishing touch was an ornament at each place to hold a place card. An extra plus; we love that this Holiday tablescape can be used be all season without having to replenish with fresh flowers every week! A family brunch was our first event using this tablescape and we loved the way it turned out.

For more holiday decorating inspiration, don’t miss our other Frontgate friends’ creativity- we love how these ladies styled their Frontgate ornaments, too! Be sure to check out each unique way they used ornaments for the Holidays: bluegraygal, The Makerista, Pizzazerie, Gal About Town and Palm Beach Lately!
